Kenneth A. Armstrong is Professor of European Union Law in the School of
Law, Queen Mary, University of London. He is currently researching new
modes of governance in the EU with a focus on the open method of co-
ordination in the sphere of social inclusion. He has published widely on issues
of EU governance and European constitutionalism.
Peter Bonnor has a PhD in law from the European University Institute in
Florence. The main focus of his research into ombudsmanship has been
ombudsmen's development of public law. He has worked as a legal officer for
the European Ombudsman since 2004. He has published on European
ombudsmanship in the European Law Review, European Public Law,
European Law Journal (a comment) and EU-Ret & Menneskeret.
Pieter Bouwen holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the
European University Institute in Florence and is administrator at the European
Commission. He is affiliated with the Université Catholique de Louvain and
Professor at the Free University of Brussels. Over recent years, he has been
senior research fellow at the Université Catholique de Louvain and at the
Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn. Previously,
he worked as research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study
of Societies in Cologne. His major research interests are European interest
representation, European public policy, international relations and political
economy. He has published several articles in national and international
