Kai Ambos has been the chair of criminal law, criminal Procedure,
comparative law and International criminal law at the Georg-august-
Universität Göttingen since may 2003. he is the head of the department
of `Foreign and International criminal law', Institute of criminal
law and Justice at the University of Göttingen. he has been a Judge
at the Provincial court (landgericht) of lower saxony in Göttingen
since march 2006. he was dean of students of the Faculty of law
at the University of Göttingen between april 2008 and 2010 and has
been responsible for the master Programs, mle and llm, since april
2006. he is director of the newly created centre for latinamerican
criminal Justice (`centro de estudios de derecho Penal y Procesal Penal
latinoamericano') at the University of Göttingen. he was educated at the
Universities of Freiburg im breisgau, oxford, and munich (dr jur. and
Post-doc). he is former senior research fellow at the max-Planck Institute
for Foreign and International criminal law, Freiburg im breisgau, in
charge of the sections `International criminal law' and `spanish-speaking
latin america' (19912003), and is a member of a number of editorial and
expert committees.
