Catherine Doldirina works at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in the
field of legal and policy aspects of access to and use of geographic and
earth observation data. She is engaged in legal research related to access
to satellite remote sensing data and to space activities since 2005. Her
expertise lies in the field of intellectual property law, some fields of
European law, (geographic) data policies and regulations, as well as
general questions of space law. In 2011 she defended her PhD thesis
`Remote sensing data and the common good' at the Institute of Air &
Space Law, McGill University (Montreal, Canada). She has lectured on
European competition law, European copyright law and space law at
various universities in Canada and Europe. She authors work on various
aspects of space law and is a member of the International Institute of
Space Law (IISL). For the past two years she has been involved in the
work of the Group on Earth Observations. She is a co-chair of the GEO
Data Sharing Working Group and of its Legal Interoperability subgroup
that conducts work on analysis and proposal of best policy and legal
options for unrestricted access and use of resources shared through the
Global Earth Observation System of Systems.
Cécile Gaubert is Vice President and Head of Legal and Claims with the
Aviation & Space Department of Marsh France. She studied the draft
