Preface
The ratification and entry into force of the Paris Agreement on climate
change constitutes an important milestone in international climate nego-
tiations. The Agreement has as its objective the strengthening of the
global response to climate change by transitioning the world to a greener
economy.
This volume of the Critical Issues in Environmental Taxation series
addresses green market transitions by examining carbon taxes, subsidies,
and support schemes for carbon and energy policies. It also reflects on the
underlying policy dynamics and constraints of related fiscal measures. In
addition, contributions touch on the important issue of smart instrument
mixes reviewing how instruments can work in harmony together.
We hope you enjoy reading these studies and find them worthy of
serious consideration.
