Abstract/Description:

Corporate social responsibility is a challenge for corporations to do no harm and positively impact society throughout consumer-targeted operations. Materials sourcing and manufacturing in the consumer electronics industry tie many actors and interest groups into a complex problem. Prioritizing undeniable human rights in the supply chain raises questions of the political economy, consumerism and profit-driven decision-making. This case study focuses on a leading electronic company’s efforts to manage sourcing and worker rights. This discourse evaluates how a company can design its strategy and operations to mitigate human rights risks in its supply chain.
