The concluding chapter of this book highlights the different meanings of the official title of the European Ombudsman in different language versions of the treaties, such as Bürgerbeauftragter, Defensor del Pueblo, Ombudsman, Médiateur/Mediatore, Provedor de Justiça, etc., and the correspondent title of the national ombudsmen in Member States, where they exist. As a matter of fact, those different official titles have, each of them, a specific closer relationship to one or the other functions of the EO such as they are analysed in the different chapters of the volume.
