About the authors Marijke De Pauw is a legal and policy officer at UNIA, the Belgian Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities. Her work focuses on the implementation of the CRPD at the national level. Dr De Pauw holds a Master's degree in law from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and a doctoral degree in international human rights law from the VUB and Université Saint-Louis ­ Bruxelles. Her doctoral thesis researched the fundamental rights of older persons from a comparative perspective at the international and regional level. She is currently also an associate postdoctoral researcher at VUB, a member of the editorial board of the Flemish human rights journal Tijdschrift voor Mensenrechten and an active member of the EU COST Action on Ageism. Israel (Issi) Doron is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Center for Research and Study of Aging at the University of Haifa, and the Past President of the Israeli Gerontological Society. He specializes in the fields of law and ageing, social policy and ageing, ethics and ageism. Professor Doron has written extensively on topics such as law and ageing, and human rights of older persons and is the editor of key books in the field such as Theories on Law and Ageing: The Jurisprudence of Elder Law (Springer, 2009). Finally, Professor Doron is also the founder of an Israeli NGO, "The Law in the Service of the Elderly", which was involved in key strategic-litigation regarding rights of older persons in Israel.
