Section: Chapter 19
Section Title: Law and property in virtual worlds
Author(s): Erlank, Wian

Abstract/Description:
Virtual reality offers several interesting and ongoing challenging issues for the law to consider. For example, there is something intrinsically alluring about the thought of being able to own something that is not there. In that context, the purpose of this chapter is not to focus on or deal with the underlying maze of theoretical and practical complexities associated with virtual worlds or virtual property; rather, the purpose of this chapter is to serve as an overview of virtual property and how the law deals with various virtual property law issues.
