Abstract/Description:
This chapter discusses the timing and form of artificial intelligence (AI) regulation in the United States. The first section compares regulating AI as soon as possible against waiting until AI is a more developed sector, advocating for the former. The second section considers how the federal government should create a regulatory framework to effectively govern and promote AI, including where in the federal government such regulatory authority should be placed, what regulatory and governing powers that agency should have, and how regulations can be kept current in the face of rapidly changing technology. The third section explores the roles for state governments and courts in the regulation of AI.
