Author(s): Goldner Lang, Iris
Number of pages: 28
Abstract/Description:
In the past few years the EU has been undergoing two major crises: a financial crisis and a migration and asylum crisis. Both share the need for solidarity among all EU Member States. In both crises, Member States are expected to help each other by financial and other means, thus alleviating the burden of the most pressured Member States and by sharing the burden and responsibility collectively. This chapter aims to compare the financial and migration crises from the perspective of solidarity and tries to answer the question of whether there is solidarity in these areas and, if so, in what way and to what degree it manifests itself.
