This chapter deals with basic concepts involved in copyright licensing, including the fundamentals of contract law, basic ownership positions relating to copyright, how international customs and conventions deal with licensing contracts, as well as different contexts in which licensing may be used, such as collaboration agreements and software distribution contracts. On the competition law front, the chapter deals with how the local competition regulator applies the relevant anti-competitive prohibitions in the context of intellectual property rights. The chapter also deals with choice of law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution issues for copyright licensing in the Singapore context.
