Preface to the second edition
The editors are pleased that this Handbook is now in a second edition. Consumer Protection remains topical with new United Nations
Guidelines and significant differences in regulatory models becoming ever more evident between the EU and US. Within Europe Brexit
may pose new regulatory complexity. In Asia and Latin America the growth of middle-class consumption is giving impetus to consumer
reforms. The digital age is posing new challenges and opportunities for consumer market regulation. The editors are grateful that
for the most part they have kept the same team of excellent contributors. Geraint Howells would like to thank Audrey Ng Hau Yi for
her assistance and City University of Hong Kong for financial support. Geraint Howells, Iain Ramsay and Thomas Wilhelmsson June 2017
