Abstract/Description:
This chapter discusses the impact of state conduct on the existence, evidence and transfer of titles of territorial sovereignty. It analyses circumstances in which the conduct of a state party to a territorial dispute can be characterized as a recognition, a confirmation or a renunciation to an existing title of territorial sovereignty. In addition, this chapter scrutinizes the conditions under which the conduct of a state party to a territorial dispute can be characterized as a protest or an acquiescence to the claim of sovereignty made by the other party.
