Abstract/Description:

Following a raft of legislative reforms adopted in 2015, Cyprus carried out an overhaul of the statutory framework regulating insolvency and bankruptcy. The Insolvency of Natural Persons (Personal Repayment Schemes and Debt Relief Order) Law of 2015, and the Insolvency of Natural Persons (Personal Repayment Schemes and Debt Relief Order) Procedural Regulation of 2016, have introduced completely novel mechanisms for the restructuring and relief of the debts and liabilities of natural persons under Cypriot law.
