Abstract/Description:
Poland was relatively late in adopting a regulation allowing for the discharge of debts of natural persons in insolvency proceedings. Consumer bankruptcy proceedings were first introduced in 2008. The Law of 29 August 2014 has since introduced substantial reforms to the consumer bankruptcy regime, liberalising access criteria and streamlining proceedings. Another comprehensive overhaul was introduced by the Law of 15 May 2015 which redrafted the provisions on discharge of entrepreneurs, bringing them broadly in line with the provisions on consumer bankruptcy.
