Abstract/Description:
On the 11 April 1889, the federal legislator adopted the Federal Law of 1889 on the Pursuit of Debts and Bankruptcies, which harmonized the main aspects of insolvency law across the country. It was revised in 1997 and then again in 2013, and applies to proceedings resulting from claims in monetary, or security rights. Swiss insolvency law provides four main sets of proceedings: debt settlement agreement, debt restructuring moratorium and agreement, bankruptcy, and seizure of assets.
