Author(s): de Miranda, Patricia L.

Abstract/Description:
The impact of cyber-attacks has grown beyond data breaches. Cyber-attacks can cause the shut-down of power grids, the disruption of industry giants, explosions of oil pipelines and even destruction of centrifuges in a nuclear facility. Consequently, cybersecurity has risen in importance and business priority as more industries, including the financial services industry, find themselves victims of a cyber-attack. This chapter examines the lessons learned from the recent high-profile cyber-attacks, and discusses the measures that organisations can adopt to enhance their resilience to cyber-attacks. It then explores the relationship between cybersecurity and blockchain, and how blockchain may fit within broader cybersecurity objectives.
