Abstract/Description:

The present work understands both international law and faith in the context of Western history and philosophy. Faith is usually associated with religion. Although international law does have its roots in religious themes, the chapter attempts to unfold the concept according to three broader and more abstract meanings. It briefly outlines three potentially intertwined ways of imagining faith and how they impact international law. The chapter seeks to better investigate and expose the relation between faith and international law in times of perceived crisis for the discipline.
