Susan Achury is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Houston. Her
research focuses on comparative political institutions, with a focus on Latin American
politics and judicial institutions under different political contexts. She is a lawyer from
Colombia and earned an MA in political science from UTEP.
Ryan C. Black is Professor of Political Science at Michigan State University. His research
focuses on US Supreme Court decision making. His published work includes three
university press books and 50 articles/chapters. He is also way into LEGO.
Jennifer Bowie is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Richmond
and Editor of the Law and Politics Book Review. She has published researched in several
peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Politics, Political Research Quarterly, Justice
System Journal, and Journal of Law and Courts.
Patrícia Branco is a researcher at Centro de Estudos Sociais in Portugal, working on the
project Courts, Communities and Citizens: The Effectiveness in (Territorial, Spatial and
Symbolic) Access to Justice of the New Reform of the Judiciary (FCT/POCH, Ref. SFRH/
BPD/102236/2014). Research interests include access to justice, courthouse architecture
and geographies of justice, law and the humanities.
Elizabeth Chrun is a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Postdoctoral
Fellow at the Department of Political Science at McGill University. She holds a PhD
in political science from the University of Washington. Her research has appeared in
Business & Politics and Annual Review of Resources and the Environment.
