Number of pages: 30
Abstract/Description:
This chapter places the global movement for the abolition of the death penalty within a reading of utopia. The history of the agonism of the death penalty within dystopia and utopia is presented as a lens to view the struggles which have occurred in the political regions as we witness the global decline of this punishment. What the literature and evolution of human rights demonstrate is that the abolition of the death penalty must be part of an ever-present story-the utopian narrative for a better world.
