Abstract/Description:

This chapter explores the Preamble of the CRC as an additional interpretative tool to clarify the meaning of CRC’s provisions in line with international law on treaties. It also flags the function of the Preamble as a section of the Convention where contentious issues such as the start of life and the rights of the unborn, not included in the operative part of the CRC, are housed.
