Abstract/Description:
This chapter provides commentary on art. 16 of the CRC on the right to privacy. The chapter discusses states’ legal obligations to guarantee children and young people’s right to protection against arbitrary or unlawful interference with their privacy, family, home and correspondence, as well as against unlawful attacks on their honour and reputation. Particular attention is paid to the notion of private life, to possible tension between children’s rights and parents’ interests in relation to privacy, as well as to children’s privacy online.
