Abstract/Description:
This chapter provides commentary on art. 45 of the CRC on implementation and international cooperation. This chapter outlines how intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations can play an important role in the implementation of the CRC. Three roles have been attributed to these organisations: representation; advice upon invitation; and submission of reports upon invitation. The chapter also explains the unique role of UNICEF. Furthermore, the chapter hoovers in on the power of the CRC Committee to request studies or to organise a day of general discussion in order to address new problems or developments. It also explains the Committee’s power to adopt general comments.
