Acknowledgments
I would like to specially thank Professor Peter Hay, my professor and mentor,
for his countless hours of reflecting, reading, encouraging, and most of all
patience, throughout the entire process of researching and writing this book.
This book would not have been possible without his insightful comments and
academic support. I also wish to thank Professor Richard Freer and Professor
Paul Zwier, who were also generous with their expertise and precious time in
commenting on my work.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank all my teachers and professors
who planted the seeds of knowledge in me during my K-12, Bachelor's,
Master's, and Doctoral degrees.
I am grateful to my family and friends, with a special feeling of gratitude
to my beloved parents, Ali and Sedigheh, whose words of encouragement still
ring in my ears. They have been my best cheerleaders. Thanks to my grand-
parents for keeping me always in their prayers. My brother, Masoud, has never
left my side and is very special.
