Abstract/Description:

Chapter 8 looks at the protection of EU GIs outside Europe. It discusses the history of the protection of EU GIs in third countries and through bilateral wine agreements and by free trade agreements (FTAs). It looks at bilateral FTAs on GIs in relation to wines, spirits, wines and spirits, agricultural products and foodstuffs and for wines, spirits and foodstuffs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The chapter also surveys and lists foreign GIs registered in the EU for foodstuffs, wines and spirits.
