Extract:
Preface Blockchains may radically change the way socio-economic interactions take place. Such interactions represent fantastic opportunities,
but also challenges. The present book constitutes an up-to-date overview of the legal aspects of blockchains, smart contracts and
decentralised autonomous organisations, opening the path to what could be a legal framework for blockchain-supported activities in
the near future. This book is aimed at all persons interested in innovation and wishing to understand how the legal framework can
encourage blockchain-based innovation whilst addressing potential risks. This includes, in particular, lawyers or entrepreneurs,
as well as civil servants acting at the local or international levels. A special thanks is addressed to our fantastic team of research
assistants at the University of Neuchâtel, who made this project possible: Charlotte Boulay, Savannah Grosclaude, Anne Honsberger
and Delphine Yerly. Daniel Kraus, Olivier Hari and Thierry Obrist Neuchâtel, September 2018
