Abstract/Description:

Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy in the 1970s in China, university technology transfer has been carried out in total deployment. This Chapter reviews China’s development history in university technology transfer after the 1970s, including legislation, policy and practice, from the beginning to the present. This Chapter also summarizes some successful experiences in China. For example, China attaches importance to highly diversified exchanges and cooperation, and takes the establishment of university-run enterprises and university science and technology parks as an important channel to realize university technology transfer. Relevant data shows that China’s university technology transfer has made some great achievements, and promoted the development of China’s economy. However, there are still some problems in university technology transfer in China, such as the rigidity of the system, how research tends to deviate from the direction of the market, inadequate professional team building, and inadequate sources of scientific research funds.
