Abstract/Description:

This chapter concludes on the book’s findings by stressing the most important areas of development of competition law in digital markets, such as the need to take into account the characteristics of digital markets and their role in the analysis of abuse of dominance, as well as the importance and rise of information-based abuses. It also highlights the need to address the asymmetry of power that arises in the relationship between information intermediaries and their users regarding the gathering and use of data and the factors which can be derived from this. It also offers a point of view on treating online platforms as (essential) utilities.
