Discrimination Amendment Bill 2012

A Bill for

An Act to amend the Discrimination Act 1991









The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

1 Name of Act

This Act is the Discrimination Amendment Act 2012.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day after its notification day.

Note The naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

3 Legislation amended

This Act amends the Discrimination Act 1991.

4 Part 6 heading

substitute

Part 6 Vilification

5 Unlawful vilification—race, sexuality etc

New section 66 (1) (e)

insert

(e) religion.

6 Serious vilification offence—race, sexuality etc

New section 67 (1) (d) (v)

insert

(v) religion.

7 Dictionary, definitions of HIV/AIDS status and public act

substitute
