ROAD LEGISLATION AMENDMENT ACT 2013 (NO. 74 OF 2013) - SECT 18

    (1)     After section 28(1B) of the Road Safety Act 1986 insert —

    "(1C)     Unless a category of motor vehicles is explicitly excluded under subsection (2), an order under subsection (1)(b) suspending or cancelling a person's driver licence or learner permit applies in relation to all categories of motor vehicle.".

    (2)     In section 28(2) of the Road Safety Act 1986 for "may be limited in its application to a category or categories of motor vehicles" substitute "may specify a category or categories of motor vehicles to which the order does not apply".

    (3)     After section 28(3) of the Road Safety Act 1986 insert —

    "(3A)     If under subsection (1) a court disqualifies a person from obtaining a driver licence the court must specify the period of disqualification.".

    (4)         In section 28(7) of the Road Safety Act 1986 —

        (a)     omit "(without affecting the power of the court to impose a longer period)";

        (b)     omit "or, if no period is specified, for 3 months".
