ROAD LEGISLATION AMENDMENT ACT 2016 (NO. 5 OF 2016) - SECT 1

The main purposes of this Act are—

        (a)     to amend the Road Safety Act 1986 , the Marine (Drug, Alcohol and Pollution Control) Act 1988 , the Rail Safety (Local Operations) Act 2006 and the Dangerous Goods Act 1985 to permit an approved analyst to certify the result of an analysis conducted in an approved laboratory rather than limit the certification to an analysis conducted by the approved analyst; and

        (b)     to amend the Road Management Act 2004 to improve the process for adjusting the threshold amount in respect of liability for property damage caused by the condition of a road or infrastructure and to make other minor amendments; and

        (c)     to amend the Road Safety Act 1986 to make various amendments relating to the licensing of drivers.
